A registered mortgage broker with the New York State Banking Department and a licensed real estate broker, Mr. Garthe has been helping his clients find homes and has been finding ways for his clients to prudently finance those homes for over 18 years.
A former commercial and residential builder, Bill started Adamson Construction Corporation in 1970 before he began his career in finance and real estate. Adamson Construction was awarded nine Design/Build awards by the National Association of the Remodeling Industry, including one national award for the design and completion of the Patıs Place shopping center, in the heart of St. James.
"When I come to appraise a house," says Bill "I bring the eye of the builder as well as the knowledge of the mortgage broker and that of the real estate professional."
Today Bill is an advisory board member of the Suffolk County Downtown Revitalization Board as well as a founding member of the Suffolk County Consumer Affairs Board.
Besides his affiliation with the construction industry, Bill is also involved with local community affairs. He is a board member of the Smithtown Rotary International Club and a member of the St. James Chamber of Commerce, having served for two years as chairman of the board and two years as president. He is also secretary of the Board of Trustees of the Harbor Country Day School in St. James.
Combining his knowledge of construction and finance with that of being a real estate broker has allowed Bill to bring his expertise full circle and provide well-rounded guidance for his clients. His knowledge of the community, says Bill, is something else that most clients find helpful.
"I have a great sense of commitment to my clients," says Bill "and I enjoy advising them and carrying them through the entire real estate process. I also have a great sense of pride and responsibility to my community and I am happy to share all of its aspects with my clients."
